Andrews Biological Station LTER

Voucher specimens for arthropods that were surveyed as part of Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) at the H.J.Andrews Experimental Forest are housed as part of OSAC.

This collection is a long term archive of the biotic richness reported from the forest. These specimens will become increasingly important for researchers as they use them both to identify future biotic samples - but also as a comparative baseline with which to monitor potential changes to the HJA arthropod biota as a result of anthropogenic and natural changes to the surrounding habitat.

In the future, OSAC hopes to make the HJA material (as well as our other voucher collections) digitally accessible by providing high resolution images of the specimens and by increasing the connectivity between our own museum-based specimen database and that of the research databases of the HJA.
