UPCOMING COURSES
A number of courses related to insects and entomology are provided each year at Oregon State University. Students are encouraged to check the course catalog for a complete listing. The following two entomology courses involve OSAC Staff Members.
SPRING 2008
BIOLOGY of INSECTS (Z-365).
This popular course is OSU's classic Introductory Entomology course - complete with field trips and a student collection. Lectures provide a strong foundation in general entomology - highlighting the anatomy, physiology, behavior, evolution, development and taxonomy of insects. Whether you you want to learn about insects for the simple joy of it or because you need basic information to succesfully understand the role of insects in agricultural or medical settings - you should consider this course.

NEW COURSE: SUMMER 2008
FIELD METHODS IN INSECT BIODIVERSITY (BI-399)
Insects make up the bulk of our planet's multi-cellular terrestrial biodiversity. Yet actual surveys of terrestrial insects are far less common than surveys of mammals and vascular plants. This is largely because of the challenges - both in the field and laboratory - to conducting an effective insect survey. This course - which occurs both in the classroom and the field - will provide you the necessary knowledge to plan, execute and report on Insect Biodiversity.
