Dr. John Pinto
Dr. John Pinto, a retired entomologist from UC Riverside, who now lives on the Oregon coast visits OSAC regularly to help curate our Coleoptera collection. Dr. Pinto is a leading authority on the systematics and taxonomy of the blister beetles (Coleoptera: Meloidae). Although there are relatively few species of blister beetles in the Pacific Northwest, OSAC's meloid collection is much larger, with many species from all over the world. Dr. Pinto is currently modernizing the taxonomy associated with our meloids, verifying the pre-existing identifications and providing determinations for our un-identified material.
