WFIC Catalog

This page provides a few access points into OSAC's digitized hopkins records.  Not all of our Hopkins records and specimens are represented here, merely those associated with the Scolytine weevil specimens in our collection.  As we add addiitonal taxa to our database, they will be searchable here.

Agents

Agents are people associated with the WFIC (both historically and today).  They may be collectors, determinors, donors, curators, volunteers, student workers, etc - but they are all linked, in some fashion, to the records or specimens associated with this collection.

Hopkins Numbers

Hopkins Numbers are the primary 'glue' that binds the WFIC data together and the key that allowed different agencies to share, organize and update records associated with the WFiC.  In terms of our modern collection database, Hopkins Numbers are treated as a type of 'specimen lot'.  Like other types of specimen lots, the hopkins lots may have sublots as well.  The search field below is set to look for search strings within the hopkins number (e.g., '34' will retrieve all hopkins numbers that we have digital records for that contain a '34' in them).

NOTE- this digitization project was limited to only a small portion of the entire Hopkins system and based on the cards and specimens located at the Oregon State Arthropod Collection.  Other copies of the cards and additional specimens occur at other institutions -- this resource is proviced as a tool to access our specimens and information about them.
